I
pray this week you have found new ways to begin the season of Lent. I pray you have a table set up for Sunday as
we begin the “Table Talk” Sermon Series.
I pray you are seeing that this moment and the holiness of this day God
has made. I pray you are pondering what
you might fast from and feast upon in the coming days. I pray you will come up with your own playful
poem prayers as I did yesterday.
I
believe we need Lent now more than ever after all we have been through. We need a calm and quiet center where we
notice that our life comes not from awards or accomplishments or achievements
or how many “likes” we get or the balance of our bank account. In short, there is another script than the
one you’ve been handed in life.
There
is a script that says ~ you are God’s beloved.
Right now. Not because of what
you are doing, but because of who you are.
There
is a script that says ~ you are enough.
Right now. You don’t need to pray
more or come to worship every Sunday or volunteer or give money away. You are letting your love and light shine is always
enough.
There
is a script that says ~ you are being shaped in the image of the Sacred. God is weaving and working in your life
through what you experience and encounter ~ explore the Eternal in this day.
May
this script find ways to help you author your life. Be careful of the editors with the red pens
who want to tell you that you “have” to do this or you “should” do that or make
you feel small by asking, “Why in the world did you do that?” Don’t let fear pick the radio station, but
let God’s love blare and blast through your life in holy ways.
Now
may the season of Lent lengthen your experience of the holy just as the minutes
of daylight are increasing every day.
With great love and blessings.
