Gracious God,
there is no where we are where you are not.
Whether we wander off physically to explore this world and end up
falling flat, splat on our face or we distance and disconnect from our life
without changing our mailing address, You are there. Whether we are the younger son setting out to
conquer the world with no regret only to discover the hard, harshness of other
featherless bipeds or whether we stay safe and secure but secretly judge anyone
who has tried to fly only to land with a thud.
God, there is a Prodigal-ness within us that needs the lavish,
outlandish love You continually pour into our lives. We are baffled and bewildered with the
Psalmist who asked, “What are humans that You are mindful of us?” What are humans in our cynical and critical
ways that You continue to heap grace upon helping of grace into our lives. Continue to guide us in this season of Lent
with an openness and awareness and awake-ness to the truth that there is a
beautiful mystery that continues to unfold as we explore this world out there
and the world that resides within us. In
the name of the One whose parables perplex and push us in new directions, Jesus
the Christ. Amen.
